 BACKGROUND:

CISP (Comitato Internazionale per lo Sviluppo dei Popoli)

CISP Kenya carries out projects in areas of development by supporting national and county authorities to provide quality, equitable, transparent and accountable services in the sectors of higher education, child protection, culture, food security and nutrition.  Currently, CISP is the Consortium lead for numerous development projects across multiple Counties and sectors in Kenya.

One of the Child protection Project component is service provision and prevention of child abuse in 2 counties (Kakamega and Nakuru), in partnership with the Department of Children Services.  CISP provides technical support in case management of four Sub county children offices in the two counties with a team of staff that ensures services such as: individual assessment of children; child and family counseling and psychosocial support, legal assistance, and reintegration of separated children. The service delivery is complemented by awareness and capacity building activities on child rights and child protection by the project staff.

Clients receiving support at the Sub county children offices through case work and counselling present different level of psychological distress; this situation predisposes the social workers/counsellors and case workers to vicarious stress since they have to listen to various concerns around neglect, sexual and gender-based cases among others which are equally traumatizing and emotionally draining.

It is with this regard therefore CISP seeks supervision services for its counselors and debriefing for the case workers. The four social workers/counsellors in each Sub county children offices (Gilgil, Naivasha, Matungu and Mumias West) will be supported on a monthly basis with professional counselling supervision and eight case workers to be supported monthly with debriefing sessions (individual and group).
