Education

March 11, 2025 Galmudug

In a bid to strengthen the future of education in Galmudug, Somalia, CISP organized a School Sustainability Plan Workshop under the SETS II Project, funded by the European Union (EU). Held in Galkacyo, this interactive three-day session brought together 36 participants, teachers, head teachers, Community Education Committees (CECs), and key stakeholders, to strategize on ensuring the long-term success of local schools.

Representatives from Mudug, Abdullahi Ciise, Alshacab, Hobyo, and General Aidiid schools took part in discussions covering crucial topics such as financial planning, resource management, community engagement, and curriculum development. The goal was to  equip school leaders with the knowledge and tools needed to create self-sustaining educational institutions that will continue to thrive for generations.

Mohamed Mustaf, CISP’s Senior Education Officer in Galmudug, emphasized the significance of sustainability in education:

“Building a strong foundation for our schools is essential for the future of our children. By adopting sustainable practices, we can ensure that quality education remains accessible for generations to come. Through the SETS II Project, CISP is committed to supporting schools on this journey.”

Participants left the workshop feeling empowered, with many highlighting its impact on their outlook. Feysal, a representative from Abdullahi Isse School, shared his perspective:

“This workshop has been eye-opening! We’ve gained valuable insights on how to improve school operations, making them more efficient and effective. Ultimately, this benefits not only our students but the entire community.”

As the workshop wrapped up, participants pledged to implement the strategies discussed, ensuring stronger, more resilient schools in Galkacyo, Gelinsor, Hobyo, and Abudwaq. By fostering collaboration and sustainability, schools supported under the SETS II Project are set to make a lasting impact on education in the region.
