Digital Storytelling Workshop in Mogadishu

Culture and Heritage

December 29, 2020 Mogadishu

Last Tuesday marked the end of a comprehensive training on how to gain effective digital storytelling skills at SOMASA academy in Mogadishu.

The workshop is part of capacity building efforts to equip youth in the creative sector under the ArtxChange program that is lead by CISP Kenya and Somalia and co-funded by EU.

The group of 18 participants were taken through 7 steps of telling a digital story, different models of storytelling, how to develop a story using words, audio and visually; how to shoot videos, voice overs and podcasts among lots of other enriching topics.

“I like telling stories that are simple and relatable to everyone. I knew how to shoot video clips but I'm now able to use these videos to narrate, I want to write as much as I can. My dream is to be a good storyteller and travel all over the world to tell stories to the people I meet. "- Mustapha Gueleh, Digital Storytelling Training Participant
