CISP in close collaboration with the Ministry of Education of the Federal Government of Somalia conducted a distribution of teaching, learning, and co-curricular materials, together with WASH supplies to all schools under the project: Strengthening Education and Training in Somalia (SETS II) funded by the EU.
223 teachers (143 males, 80 females), and 6,309 learners (2978 boys & 3331 girls) benefited from this distribution in the six target schools.
"We will benefit a lot from these items. They will help us in our teaching and for our work in school. Some of the items like the ball, can create opportunities to play football since we now have the items for sports. The items are useful for physical education for the learners too," shares Mohamed Muhyadin, the head teacher of Abdiaziz primary school.
The teaching and learning materials will enable both learners and teachers to receive and deliver lessons effectively. While co-curricular materials will stimulate social interaction between peers. Co-curricular activities are aimed to improve students' academic performance and teach them how to concentrate on specific tasks and how to get relief from the stress of class periods. The WASH supplies i.e., handwashing soaps and sanitizers, are aimed to enhance wellbeing and a safe school environment.
This activity is under the SETS II project funded by the EU and its overall objective is to improve the educational attainment and employability of the relevant target groups in Somalia. Its specific objective is to improve the participation in good governance, quality, relevance, and inclusiveness of education and training in Somalia.
