Health and Nutrition
In the heart of Farjano village, 18 kilometers from Dusmareeb, Somalia, Nurto Ali embodies resilience and determination. At 35, she is a mother of five, navigating the challenges of raising a family in a region facing prolonged drought. Despite the hardships, she remains steadfast in her commitment to ensuring her children’s well-being.
When her youngest child, five-month-old Jamila, showed signs of malnutrition, Nurto learned about the CISP Nutrition Program, funded by the World Food Programme (WFP), and immediately sought support.
“The moment I heard about the program, I knew I had to go,” she shared. The CISP mobile team responded quickly, providing essential nutritional support and guidance to help Jamila recover.
“The team was incredibly supportive, guiding me through every step,” Nurto said. With access to the right resources and knowledge, she now feels equipped to give her children a healthier future.
As Jamila regains her strength, Nurto remains hopeful. “Every small step counts,” she said. “With the right support, things can get better.”
Her story reflects the strength of mothers across Somalia who, despite the challenges, continue to seek opportunities for their families to thrive.
