Qamar’s Story of Courage and Care

Health and Nutrition

April 29, 2025 Guriceel

Qamar Abdi Omar, a strong and determined mother of eight, now lives in Jareweyne IDP Camp on the outskirts of Guriel District. After bravely fleeing her home in Qalafe district, Ethiopia, she has remained steadfast in her commitment to building a better future for her children.

Recently, Qamar brought her daughter, Quresho, to the Kaah Health Center, where they were warmly welcomed by CISP’s Nutrition Program, supported by WFP. Thanks to early intervention, Quresho was diagnosed with malnutrition and immediately began receiving the care she needed.

"I never thought I'd face challenges like this," Qamar said. "But seeing my daughter recover gives me new energy. I will keep pushing forward for my children — no matter what."

Though life in the camp presents daily challenges. Qamar  draws strength from her love for her family and her faith in a brighter tomorrow. “We have difficult days,” she admitted, “but I believe that with support and perseverance, better days are ahead.”
