Workshop on ratification of Unesco convetions

Culture and Heritage

On March 20^th, 2019 the Somali Academy of Science and Arts with the support of CISP and UNESCO, organized the second workshop on the ratification of the Unesco Conventions in the field of culture. Ms. Karalyn Monteil, Unesco Regional Advisor for Culture, facilitated the workshop. 

Representatives of the Ministry of Education, Culture and Higher Education, the Ministry of Information, Tourism and Culture, the Ministry of the Interior, the Prime Minister’s Office, the Office of the President and the Somali Academy of Science and Arts as well as the Banadir Region Municipality, attended the session. One of the main recommendations from the workshop is to set up a ratification Task Force within the Ministry of Education, Culture and Higher Education (MOECHE) and the Ministry of Information, Tourism and Culture to work with Somali Academy of Sciences and Arts (SOMASA) and the Somali National Commission for UNESCO to strengthen collaborations for ratification of UNESCO Conventions in the field of Culture.
